Yom Kippur

Thursday, September 16th is Yom Kippur.

All government offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and courts, are open. There is mail delivery.

Alternate Side Parking (street cleaning) rules are suspended.

All other parking regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

Trash and recycling collection follow a regular schedule.

All NYC Public Schools are closed.

P311 (Parent Support Hotline) and Family Welcome Centers, including enrollment centers, are also closed.

Parking in School Zones

Parking is allowed in school zones when school is in recess. However, specific schools may be open on holidays, and parking restrictions would remain in effect. You should contact specific schools to verify that they are in recess.

The Staten Island Ferry runs on a normal schedule.

All branches of the City's Public Library systems are open.
