With the public's help, the City is collecting information about the locations of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). By reporting the location of an AED, you can help the City build a database for a free Fire Department mobile application that will search for nearby AEDs.

You can enter detailed information on AED locations through an online form. Make sure you know the name and address of a location and any other location-specific information. 

AEDs are machines with internal computers that are designed to analyze the patient’s heart rhythm to determine if a “shock” is needed.

A patient in cardiac arrest may present a heart rhythm that is either “shockable” or “not shockable.” Patients showing “shockable” rhythms represent those who are most likely to survive, and the most common rhythm that these patients show is called ventricular fibrillation (VF).  The treatment for patients in VF is defibrillation.
