The last Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) medallion sale took place on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.

A medallion is a piece of tin that is affixed on the hood of a yellow taxicab. The piece of tin identifies the vehicle as a licensed New York City taxicab and may be used to pick up passengers from the street by a licensed New York City taxicab driver.
