Important Update about License Renewal

New York City’s Emergency Executive Orders (EEO) that extended license expiration dates and renewal application deadlines because of the COVID-19 pandemic ended. If your license was set to expire from March 12, 2020 through August 14, 2021 and you did not renew due to the Mayoral EEO, your extended license will expire on August 14, 2021.

Learn more about renewals.

You must have an Industrial Laundry License if your business:

  • Provides laundry services to commercial clients, including hotels, hospitals, restaurants, gyms, and retail laundries OR
  • Maintains or operates a laundry services facility in connection with any commercial institution, including a hotel, restaurant, or gym

"Laundry services" means washing, drying, starching, or ironing laundry for a fee. It does not include dry cleaning.

You don't need a license for laundry facilities of any:

  • Hospital
  • Residence for use by the owners, tenants, or occupants of the residence

If your business will also transport laundry between commercial clients and industrial laundries, you don't need to apply for a separate Industrial Laundry Delivery License.

Fee

The fee for the full two-year license term is based on the number of employees:

  • 0 to 5: $340
  • 6 to 10: $490
  • 11 to 25: $740
  • 26 to 50: $1,240
  • 51 to 75: $1,740
  • 76 to 100: $1,990
  • 101 to 125: $2,240
  • More than 126: $2,740

Expiration Date

The license expires on December 31 in odd-numbered years.
