The Department of Probation (DOP) supervises youths who have been placed on probation by a judge in the Family Court. Juvenile delinquents, age 7 through 15 at the time of arrest, can be placed under the supervision of DOP for up to two years.
The youth is assigned to a Probation Officer who ensures that the he or she complies with the conditions set by the judge, including paying restitution to victims, community service and drug treatment. The Probation Officer is also responsible for monitoring the probationer's adjustment at home and at school. When necessary, a violation of probation is filed and the youth is returned to the court.
You can get information about these procedures. You can also find out the name and phone number of the youth's probation officer, DOP office locations, and office hours.

You can also contact the DOP's Juvenile Operations Division in your borough for more information and assistance.
