You can pay your water and sewer bill online, by phone, by mail, or in person.

If you cannot pay in full and wish to enter a payment agreement for outstanding water and sewer charges, you can contact DEP by phone 718-595-7890 or email collectionsunit@dep.nyc.gov.

If you are having trouble paying your water bills, you can contact DEP's Ombudsman at 718-595-6628 for assistance. DEP will not shut off water if a property owner is having trouble paying what's owed.

You can pay your water and sewer bill online, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

You can register online to:

You can make payments using a credit card, debit card or through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) using a checking or savings account.

Payments authorized after 9 AM weekdays may not post to your account until the following day. Payments authorized on the weekend may not post until Tuesday.

Register or login to My DEP Account.

You can pay your water and sewer bill over the phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can make a payment by debit card, most credit cards, and through electronic funds transfer (EFT) using a savings or checking account. There is a 2.25% processing fee for credit and debit card payments. There is no fee for EFT transactions.

Payments authorized after 9 AM weekdays may not post to your account until the following day. Payments authorized on the weekend may not post until Tuesday.

You can pay your water and sewer bill using a check or money order. Cash is not accepted by mail.

  • Make the check or money order payable to "NYC WATER BOARD"  
  • Write the account number on the check or money order
  • Enclose your bill stub and payment in a stamped envelope

You can pay your water and sewer bill at any Department of Environmental Protection Borough Office. You can make the payment by personal check, certified check, or money order, payable to "NYC Water Board". Cash is not accepted. You must write the water and sewer account number on the check.

You can also use Internet kiosks and customer service telephones at the Borough Office to make payments using electronic fund transfers (EFT) or debit or credit cards.

Credit and Debit Cards

American Express, Discover and MasterCard are accepted. Visa is NOT accepted at this time. Credit card and debit card payments are subject to a 2.25% service fee.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

There is no cost to use this service. Payments are made directly from a checking or savings account. To make a payment, you must have the following information ready when you register online:

  • Your 13-digit DEP water/ sewer account number ending in "001."
  • Your 9-digit bank account ABA/ routing number located at the bottom left hand corner of a check.
  • Your bank account number that is associated with the ABA/ routing number provided. The bank account number is located to the right of the ABA/ routing number.

Automatic Withdrawals

You can schedule recurring automated withdrawals on the My DEP Account online page.

Check or Money Order

You can make a payment in person, by personal check, certified check, or money order. Make the check or money order payable to "NYC Water Board" Cash is not accepted.

You can sign up to receive your quarterly bills electronically instead of by mail.  Once enrolled, you will start receiving email notifications when your water and sewer bills are available.

  • See your billing history
  • Pay your bill online
  • Print a copy of a bill if you want to mail in your payment

If a water bill payment has been deducted from your bank account, but has not been applied to your Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) account within 2 business days, you can get assistance by phone.
