The Gifted and Talented program identifies and supports exceptional students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
If your child is currently in pre-K through second grade, you can participate in the Gifted and Talented admissions process.
Gifted and talented students are identified through a rigorous testing process. If your child passes the test, you are eligible to apply for Citywide and District Gifted and Talented programs. Students are not guaranteed a placement in a program.
- Citywide Gifted and Talented Programs accept students from all boroughs and all students in the school attend the program. Students must get an overall score of 97% or above to be eligible to apply for Citywide programs.
- District Gifted and Talented Programs are located within district elementary schools from kindergarten to fifth grade. Students must get an overall score of 90% or above to be eligible to apply for District programs.
Before your child can take the exam, you must submit a Request for Testing (RFT) form in person or online at MySchools.nyc. Gifted & Talented (G&T) test registration for the 2021-2022 school year is not currently open.
