The NYC Accelerator is part of the City’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. This program is a one-stop resource for owners and operators of privately-owned buildings who want to increase the value and sustainability of their properties through energy and water upgrades while making a positive impact on our environment.

Owners of single-family homes, and those owning as many as four-family homes, are not eligible for this program. If you are an owner of a 1-4 family house or building, you can visit the GreeNYC website for tips on how to save energy.

Efficiency advisers are trusted experts that can help building owners and operators comply with the City’s building energy regulations, such as Local Law 87 Energy Audits and Clean Heat regulations. Advisers can also provide advice on how to make buildings more efficient.

Cost of the Program

This program is a free resource for eligible building managers and owners.

There are many incentives and rebates available to help cover the cost of energy and water upgrades or retrofits. Although the program does not provide funding directly, it can help you connect with the appropriate resources.

Solar Installation Projects

This program can help eligible property owners with resources to assist with solar installation. If you do not qualify, you can get information from the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA).

Visit the NYSERDA's website.

The NYC Clean Heat program has transitioned into the NYC Accelerator, New York’s one-stop resource for buildings interested in energy and water efficiency upgrades.

The NYC Accelerator will continue to work with building owners to phase out the use of heavy heating fuels to cleaner ones. Switching to cleaner fuels will reduce the City's air pollution, improve air quality, and save lives.

Energy Audits

Under Local Law 87 (LL87), owners of buildings over 50,000 gross square feet must complete an energy audit and retro-commissioning measure once every 10 years. The NYC Accelerator program can help you with compliance and your audit results.

Benchmarking

Benchmarking rules require owners of buildings over 25,000 square feet gross to annually measure their energy usage and provide this information to the City. This audit can be used to help owners make their building more efficient.

You can learn more about the Benchmark Requirement.

Lighting Upgrades

Under Local Law 88 (LL88), owners of non-residential buildings must upgrade their lighting to meet current New York City Energy Conservation Code standards. They must also install electrical sub-meters for each large non-residential tenant.
